As a BCBS carrier and LPC I cannot begin to express the need for LPC paneling with BCBS. I work with children in my area. Not many other clinicians work with children or have my specialities. I receive several calls a weeks. Due to the insurance barrier I am unable to service these families. I have a referral list for providers outside of the area which adds additional strain to families already in need or crisis. This is sad and frustrating. LPC's are skilled mental health professionals. We provide a wide variety of services. It's built in our schooling!!! Many other specialties learn our skill set AFTER graduation in the work force. I agree all mental health providers are necessary and respectfully request you to add LPC clinicians to panel and be of service to families.

BCBSMI unfairly discriminates against LPCs. This battle to gain full recognition has been going on for approx 20 years. It's long past time for BCBSMI to fully recognize LPCs as highly trained and qualified mental health professionals equal to LMSWs.

As an LPC our training is equally, if not more, rigorous as an LMSW. Restricting LPCs is move based on old politics and policies. There are so many people that need mental health care. Let them have the freedom to choose the best therapist for them.

Mental health is a serious condition in our society. Left untreated and/or limited access and/or limited benefits lets us know the tradies we are witnessing today can be prevented if help is available.

I have served as a counselor for the past 20 years, in the states of Michigan and Ohio. The recognition of Licensed Professional Counselors is trained and skilled professionals by insurance agencies is long overdue. Therefore, as a Blue Cross member, I support this movement.

My name is Isaac Watts. I am a BCBS member and an LPC. LPC are trained the same as psychologist and MSW's; yes, we are trained in psychological testing as well. With the shortage of mental health providers at this time, it is imperative that you open your provider panel to us. We are qualified, capable and very deserving. Change your policy and accept LPC's to your panel.
