The administration confirmed that graduation is returning to the Macon Coliseum. It has been a draining road to get here but I am relieved that families will finally get the space they deserve.

On behalf of the graduation body, recently the location of graduation was changed to be held in the Student Wellness Center instead of the traditional Macon Coliseum location. We are the honorable graduates and have no opinion within this decision as we will only receive five tickets for family members to view this special moment, while a few have the potential to gain a total of eight. Even non-profit high schools' in the Macon area are having their graduation at the Macon Coliseum, but MGA is now exempt. Due to this change many of our family members will not be able to witness this significant day because of this smaller venue. Those who have to make prior arrangements with work or buy plane tickets are unsure if their graduate will be given the additional tickets that potentially could be available for them. This also puts a strain on family members. Middle Georgia is now known as a University and is growing, but instead of increasing the space for the graduation population they have decided to decrease it. However, tuition has increased since becoming a university status. After graduating we will be in debt, but the school we have constanly payed for a period of time is depriving us from inviting all of those who supported us throughout this journey. It is important for every family member to be there for this one special moment. Join me and other fellow graduates as we petition for a larger venue to house us, and our proud family members.

Thank you for your support.

We, the undersigned, are concerned students, parents, and supporters who urge our leaders to act in regards to a larger venue for the 2016 graduation.

The exhaustion of this fight is starting to settle in but I refuse to walk away from this while our families are being left out. We are creeping toward our first hundred signatures and I need you to lean in now so we force them to actually listen to us.

I have two parents, two stepparents, two In-laws, two nieces, two brothers, a husband, and a son. I need more than five tickets. I have worked very hard for my degree and my family has the right to attend my graduation.

I agree 100% and I was told that my two children needed tickets as well if they were sitting in seats. I am one of 5 so my siblings can't all come if I am to invite my parents and husband. It really is disappointing that they can't celebrate this moment with me.

My granddaughter is a first generation grad this year at MGSU, and it's very upsetting I may not be able to celebrate this special moment with her. Please change the location to accommodate all of our family members.

I have already purchased a flight for that day for my graduate and it's a possibility I might not be able to go because the venue is small. My graduate worked hard and deserves this day with her family and friends.

I am from Augusta, Georgia which is about two and a half hours away. I would like for my family and friends to be a part of my special day. Five tickets is not enough, and most of my family has already taken off work to go.

I have attended this school for five years and have a husband and six kids plus parents that I'd like to invite and having to choose who gets to see me receive my degree is unfair when so many have cheered me on and been there for me during this long journey. We need more room for attendees.
