Based upon a directive dated July 1975, Metal detecting in the Arkansas State Parks is prohibited. Those of us who enjoy our hobby, both Arkansans and tourists alike, should be benefitted the same rights as other hobbyists such as fishermen, campers, hunters, etc. We are asking that the State Parks Director and the Parks Commission reconsider their decision earlier this year and work with the metal detecting enthusiasts to arrive at a solution which will be beneficial to both the hobbyists and the Arkansas Parks Department.

Arkansas can't call itself the Natural State and prosecute those who voluntarily pick up garbage.

The 1975 rule is totally outdated. We arent digging up history sites we just want to look for lost coins and pull tabs.

My husband has been doing this for years and it is good exercise. Let him enjoy the parks.
