The Mesa Verde Foundation (MVF), a private non-profit partner, is proud to lead the effort to propose the creation of a new Colorado specialty license plate to support Mesa Verde National Park, one of the first 12 UNESCO World Heritage Sites and home to nearly 5,000 known Ancestral Puebloan archaeological sites, including 600 cliff dwellings and thousands of ancient artifacts. The Mesa Verde Foundation provides financial support and other resources to support the park in its mission of protecting its cultural, natural, aesthetic and wilderness values. Entrance fees from nearly 600,000 visitors and government funding cover only part of park expenses, making MVF’s financial support critical for improvements, maintenance, special projects and educational endeavors. As a Ute Mountain Ute tribal member, I would be proud to sign this petition. Working and living around Mesa Verde NP. Having a Colorado license plate created to honor Mesa Verde NP celebrates our relationship of this place from time immemorial to present day.

Mesa Verde and Rocky Mtn National Parks are two of the strongest symbols of Colorado. As such, out of staters seeing a Mesa Verde or Rocky Mtn Nat Park license plate are likely to react favorably in terms of encouraging visiting either of them, and provide a positive reinforcement reminder.

The Mesa Verde National Park license plate will put SW Colorado on the state map. As a life long resident of Montezuma County Colorado, we are often forgotten by the state. People think the front range is the only Colorado. I've had many people think I reside in Cortez, NM.

I have taken fourth grade students and their parent chaperones from Colorado Springs to Mesa Verde several times. Colorado history is the yearlong Social Studies curriculum for fourth grade. These visits gave them lasting impressions a book or film could never provide. This is a national and global treasure to be honored.

Love Mesa Verde! Being part Native American children have a strong connection to Mesa Verde. As a family we have gone to Mesa Verde with each of the children to connect to their native roots

Since the Federal Government can't, at theis time, be depended on to fund it's obligations or protect our land this plate would at least help fund one very important part of our public lands.
