Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council/ Cyfarthfa High School: Please open Cyfarthfa Castle School for at least one more day to the public

Cyfarthfa Castle School has been open for 101 years! But last week it closed its school doors for the very last time as the lower school has been relocated onto the Upper school site.
Cyfarthfa High Schoolallowed the public to visit the school between the hours of 3pm and 5pm for one day only just over a week ago. Howevermany people were unaware of thisand the hours were unsuitable for many people due to work commitments.
A Cyfarthfa Memories page was started on Facebook on Friday by Alex Willmott and it soon became very clear that there were alot of people that would have loved to have visited the school one last time but they were either not aware of the two hour opening or they were unable to attend. Within days there have been thousands of messages posted and thousands of memories shared, showing that the school meant so much to so many people.
The school is an important part of Merthyr's wonderful history and the public would like to have another opportunity to visit the iconic building one last time with their friends and families. Many people have expressed a wish to take their young families to the place they were taught as they will now never experience it themselves. Some people have said they would travel back to Merthyr to visit the school ifthe doors were opened one more time!
I decided to start this petition as I was moved by how many people have shared so many fabulous memories of not just the school but its teachers and staff too. I, like many other people would love the opportunity to return to the place that has so many wonderful memories. The school played an important part in my life and it was were I made friends that I am lucky enough to still call friends!
The public would like Cyfarthfa High School/ the Council to open Cyfarthfa Castle School for at least one more whole day (possibly on aweekend as more people could attend) to allow them to visit and reminisce one more time before it changes forever!

We just hit two hundred and fifty signatures. It is exhausting to keep pushing when the walls feel this high but seeing so many people share their memories of the building keeps me going.

My mam went there and so did I. Would love to show my kids the old classrooms before they change the whole place.
THEY GAVE US NO NOTICE AT ALL. 2 hours is a joke for a building with that much history.
Please open up for a few more hours. I worked until 6 that day and couldnt get there in time. Such a shame to lose it like this.
Missed it by minutes because of traffic. Really gutted honestly.
So many memories in those walls. It just feels wrong not to let us say a proper goodbye to the old building.

Need to open it on a Saturday so people can actually make it. Pretty simple request really.
