The park board has granted us permission to place the memorial bench for Maria. Knowing that 396 people stood with us to honor her memory brings me a profound sense of peace. We will be sharing the final plans for the installation ceremony with you very soon.

Our friend Maria was an amazing individual, who we miss sorely to this day. We would like just one last chance to come together, as a family and remember her.

I didn't personally know Maria, but I know many people who miss her, and i feel that it is wrong that the school will not allow us to respect the deceased. I feel like Maria would have wanted us to remember her. Again, I didn't know her personally, but I wish her to rest in peace.

Maria- You used to live just a few houses away from me, and although we never really spoke and were in different grades, I will never forget you. Rest in peace.

If having a memorial for Maria is inducing suicide, then going to a funeral would be inducing death. Her friends care and love her deeply, and by the impact that her absence has on them, they know that suicide is not a joke. Please keep Maria in memory.

I used to always see Maria in the hallway at school and she had the nicest smile I've ever seen. I barely even knew her and she was always there to give me a warm smile. I miss that, and it sucks that our school won't let us remember that smile, so I'm happy to help let our voices be heard in remembering Maria forever.

Maria was my best friend in 3rd grade and she deserves to be remembered. We can use this as an opportunity to teach kids about suicide prevention and how to help someone even when they don't need help.

Even though I might be out of place in the memorial, Maria was really good at chess and always beat me so I sorely miss the competition, for sure. I always looked up to her. I think she deserves to be honored.

I am so sorry for your loss. It's an abomination on her memory that school won't allow you to remember her.
