The undersigned members hereby petition the board of directors to set the earliest reasonable date, but no later than the prosed 2019 Annual Meeting, for a special membership meeting for the purpose of amending our written bylaws and/or current practice of holding “closed” meetings of the Board to allow any member of the Association to attend board meeting (including any workshop, pre meeting or other similar meeting of directors called by a different name), except when the board adjourns to, or meets solely in, executive session.

Any member of the Association shall be entitled to attend a teleconference meeting or the portion of a teleconference meeting that is open to members, and that meeting or portion of the meeting shall be audible to the members in a location specified in the notice of the meeting.

The board shall permit any member of the Association to speak at any meeting of the association or the board, except for meetings of the board held in executive session. A reasonable time limit for all members of the association to speak to the board or before a meeting of the association shall be established by the board.

And, that notice of a proposed bylaw change and ballots be sent to the membership.

The purpose of this petition for open meetings is to allow the Association members to see board members in action and evaluate their effectiveness of being on the board. Presently, Association members are not afforded the opportunity to hear discussions, to know ahead of time topics that are on the Agenda, how board members arrive on assessments being imposed or how board members vote on topics being discussed in their “workshop” meeting.

Homeowners want the opportunity to choose to attend and hear items being discussed by their board and for more Transparency.
