MCR Zoning Petition 1

Do NOT want Apartments.

While apartment developments are good for their purposes, single-family home owners must be given the opportunity to preserve the marketable beauty of their homes and its surroundings. The United States Supreme Court’s opinion in Village of Euclid v. Ambler Realty in 1926, a case regarding the legality of zoning, went out of its way to call out the effect apartments have on single family areas: "With particular reference to apartment houses, it is pointed out that the development of detached house sections is greatly retarded by the coming of apartment houses, which has sometimes resulted in destroying the entire section for private house purposes; that, in such sections, very often the apartment house is a mere parasite, constructed in order to take advantage of the open spaces and attractive surroundings created by the residential character... Moreover, the coming of one apartment house is followed by others,... bringing, as their necessary accompaniments, the disturbing noises and traffic... detracting from [the otherwise peaceful environment] and safety [of the community]... — until, finally, the residential character of the neighborhood and its desirability as a place of detached residences are utterly destroyed. Under these circumstances..., apartment houses come very near to being nuisances [when built in an area where families pay yearly to ensure that their single-family housing community remains beautiful, possessing an alluring charm which accentuates the positive and increases the value of the homes that the owners so greatly desire and deserve.]"

Not at all pleased about the possibility of apartment dwellers as temporary neighbors with a general use and abuse mentality who will over crowd the streets and the area and fill the air with additional noise pollution, vehicular pollution and light pollution at night. These issues run counter to the Blue Zone principals that MCR community is working to adopt for the benefit of all.

I oppose the building of apartments, this will decrease the homeowners value significantly.

We already have plenty of apartments in our area!

I am opposing the rezoning. I do not want multifamily dwelling in my backyard.

I do not want apartments built behind my house!

No multi family homes were shown when buying/building. Traffic to get it the freeway in the morning is horrific as are the single lane roads leading to it.

I oppose the new rezoning to allow more apartments in this area built. We have had a higher crime issue, I being a victim of identity theft from mail stolen. I agree with insufficient police presence. There are insufficient roads due to home building increase and some of the local roads need rebuilt due to poor pot holes. Crime has definitely increased over the last 10 years!

I have no idea what the petition is about... this isn't enough information for me to sign... We the homeowners of Marine Creek Ranch oppose the development of la d proposed for multi-family dwelling re-zoning by the developer for the following reasons: what is the development that we are apposed to? Just Multi-family rezoning? so we are good with the current multi-family zone?
