The Parks Department has confirmed that the club house will remain open on a year-round basis. This outcome represents a thoughtful recognition of how essential this space is to our daily lives on the courts. We have secured a permanent home for our community through our collective persistence.

We the undersigned, are all tennis player and or members of the McCarren Tennis Center. We respectfully request that the New York City Parks Department and the City of New York, allows McCarren Tennis Center Partner, LLC, to keep the Tennis Clubhouse up and running year around.
The clubhouse is necessary for many reasons: Booking courts, scheduling, tennis pro shop, stringing, bathrooms, showers, waiting area for the courts, meeting place for tennis players, opportunity to purchase tennis equipment, shoes and clothes. This can not be accomplished without a full time, year round clubhouse. It is very important and basic need for each and every Tennis Player for a postive experience at the McCarren Tennis Courts
The clubhouse is instrumental to the success, growth and overall service that can be provided to the tennis community

A permanent clubhouse is a real necessity and will keep players from going elsewhere. Having more people hang out at these courts is great for the surrounding shops and restaurants as well.
Tennis is a social sport!! We need the clubhouse to meet new friends and spend time to get to know each other and arrange games with fellow players as well as the tennis pros from the tennis center. The McCarren park tennis community needs a place to meet and call home.
The environmental impact of tearing down and rebuilding the clubhouse each year does not make any sense. Please just keep it open,
The LIU tennis team is a proud customer of these courts on a daily basis and the need for a clubhouse with bathroom is essential. It causes issues with the local businesses to use their bathrooms constantly. Keeping this up and having a bathroom will do wonders for the tennis community and help relationships with the surrounding businesses.
I'm not from Flushing. A Greenpoint resident since 1950. I've seen every iteration of the McCarren Park tennis courts. Even when we used to have to put up our own nets in the 1970's. Whose idea is it to take away the clubhouse? This is the best amenity we've ever had. Let us enjoy it.
Necessary it is!

I began playing at McCarren last summer with the tennis pros and no clubhouse, and have seen the transformation once the clubhouse was added. The organization is necessary to be able to participate in group clinics and private lessons as well as booking a court to play which felt daunting with no clubhouse present.
