As a past pupil , current teacher, and future parent my concerns for the future of second level educstion in maynooth cannot be over-stated. The success of MPPS is due to the mix of students. It is impossible to compare schools since we don't produce a commodity that can be measured, we don't make money. In order to measure our product you have to measure/compare our intake of students. The " tables showing the number of students that continue to university" is taken in many sectors as a measure of success MPPS compares extremely favourably with lots of schools that have a very different intake of students than MPPS. There is something so special about this school that is now under threat by those who don' t understand or appreciate whatmakes it special. It is our community our school , lets use democracey and show that peoplepower is alive and well.

Dont fix whats not broken, Maynooth PP is a class school, extra bureaccracy will be introduced and elitism introduced, no one wants this, it is not needed

I feel the patronage of the new school was awarded based on false information. It is common knowledge that Maynooth PP is multi-denominational, not catholic ethos. WE have now ended up with 2 schools with essentially the same ethos. How will they be differentiated from each other - only by results.

I fear that, if Minister Quinn's proposal goes ahead, a new layer of elitism will be needlessly introduced into the town. I have generally heard positive things from people attending a Junior/Senior model of school.

I support one school, jnr/snr model, we are a small harmonious community, two separate schools will ruin this, it will create division between parents and pupils

Lots of children at primary School make a similar transition between Junior Schools and Senior School every year all over Ireland and the Department don't have a problem with this. Teachers could teach subjects in the two schools.At the moment the school is so big children are getting new teachers all the time so there is a lack of continuity anyway.
