We are appealing the decision made by Minister for Education and Skills, Ruairí Quinn that two separate, fully vertical second-level schools, will be created, on the same site, in Maynooth.
The clearly expressed wish of the parents and wider community of Maynooth and the surrounding areas is that the two proposed schools be amalgamated and a single, junior/senior model be implemented.

As a teacher and a past pupil of maynooth post primary I feel it is highly important to offer equal education and not to divide the community with two different schools.
No matter what claims are made that the schools are to be "equal" public perception is certain to favour one school over the other and such perceptions will soon be self actualising.
With two boys in Maynooth BNS I know that two schools is going to drive apart friends who would otherwise continue as classmates. I have yet to hear at what level (educationally, financially, politically of otherwise) two schools makes any sense!
Past pupil of MPP. Having two schools on the same grounds is ridiculous. Senior and Junior schools would work better. Why separate the students? It'll lead to rivalry and potentially one school will be considered superior academically to the other.
There should only be one Post Primary School in Maynooth and this is the reason I signed the first petition to have the VEC as the schools patron. There should be one school, one uniform, one set of rules and one set of principles. Having one school avoids social inequalities and it enhances a community spirit among the young adults attending it.
Junior/Senior is in my view the only sensible way to go

I feel the patronage of the new school was awarded based on false information. It is common knowledge that Maynooth PP is multi-denominational, not catholic ethos. WE have now ended up with 2 schools with essentially the same ethos. How will they be differentiated from each other - only by results.
