The Petition of the people of Croydon declares that Accident & Emergency at Mayday University Hospital should be protected and that the hospital's status should not be downgraded.
The Petitioners therefore request that the House of Commons urges the Government to encourage the South West London Strategic Health Authority to maintain Mayday's status and A+E unit.

I spent all morning reading through the stories you all are leaving about your experiences at the hospital and it is honestly overwhelming to see how much this place means to us. It feels like the folks in charge think they can just move things around on a spreadsheet but they clearly have no idea what they are actually messing with here. I am trying to figure out the best way to get these personal accounts in front of the people making these decisions because their silence is starting to get really loud.

This is our local hospital and we depend on it. Don't take away our A&E service.
Keep it open! The wait times are already bad enough as it is. We need more beds not less.
Ridiculous idea. How are people supposed to get emergency care if they ship everyone off to other boroughs? Fix the funding instead.
Absolutely not. Croydon is huge and the distance to the next hospital is too far for an emergency. Bad decision.
I was born there and so were my children. Please leave it alone it is vital for our community.

my kids have been there so many times. croydon needs this hospital. closing it or downgrading is absolute madness
