Earmark revenues earned from the gambling industry for Education

In the 2012 election, advocates for the casino gambling referendum indicated that most, if not all, state revenues realized from casino gambling would be directed to schools. We expect that promise to be kept and that gambling revenue will be added to the state's general funding for education. We strongly oppose the use of state gambling revenue to supplant state education funding from the general fund.

The state is trying to use these funds to cover budget holes instead of investing in our schools. Call your representative today to demand that gambling revenue stays in the classroom. Forward this link to your neighbors so they know exactly where their tax money is going.

The momentum behind this campaign is undeniable and it proves the public is tired of broken promises regarding school funding. Post the link to your Facebook page and text three friends who care about education to keep this pressure on our representatives.

The wool was pooled over the eyes of the citizens of MD when this deal was presented. Clearly, there was a conserted effort to decive the public in the way these funds would be used. This injustice to the children of our neediest schools needs to stop now.

Our schools are in desperate need of repairs and more teachers. Please do the right thing for the children by using the funds as they were intended.

This is an issue that was discussed in 2012 and the understanding was that the funds would increase the education budget, otherwaise no one would have voted for the casino gambling.

When MD gambling was being proposed, it was promised that the gambling funds would be in addition to and not instead of the education funding sources already in place. Gambling funds should not be used to reduce the MD's existing commitment to education. Gambling funds should be used to grow MD's commitment to education funding.

Maryland lawmakers should have gotten this right from the beginning! Promises should have never been made to supplant education funding with gambling revenue without first putting it in writing. As your constituent, I urge you to put the money where the promises came from and to bolster education funding in State of Maryland's schools!

The public was swindled during the campaign to vote for gambling. I knew what was going to happen though and voted against it. If most people knew that the money would not be in addition to current funding, they would not have supported gambling in the referendum.

The revenues from casino gambling should go directly to the schools as indicated. Our children are the future leaders of this world, why not prepare them as best as possible. Don't they deserve it?
