WORKING TO SAVE THE ONLY GREEN BELT IN THE WHOLE OF WALES It falls between Cardiff and Newport THIS AFFECTS EVERY MAN, WOMAN AND CHILD We need your support urgently to save the only GREEN BELT in Wales which lies on the flood plain, and acts as a sieve, and lung between Cardiff / St. Mellons, and Newport / Marshfield. At present it is under threat of being considered for development with the decision lying in the hands of Newport City Council Planners. Should this be given the Green Light, it would spell the unthinkable, irreversible erosion and, permanent loss of the only “Green Piece” in Wales. It would be swallowed up, effectively removing the Buffer Zone, and allowing a concrete collision between the settlements of Cardiff and Newport. It is strongly urged that Newport City Council continue to safeguard this area, and for it to remain, and be awarded the highest degree of protection to prevent the coalescence between, and within settlements. It is this unique wetlands last hope – and will stop building on the floodplain which is tomorrow’s nightmare. It is the intention of Marshfield Community Council to fight to safeguard the ONLY remaining Green Belt in Wales, rendering it untouchable.
