Justice for Markie
On May 24th 2011 Markie Marie Brandner passed away. Shw was just 21 years old. She loved to sing, loved her family, and she loved life. She enjoyed going to the beach, shopping, tanning and always made everyone smile. Markie had an addiction that she fought very hard to overcome. However on that Tuesday morning she lost her battle, which was terribly difficult for us to accept but we soon found ourselves devastated to learn that in Florida nothing would be done...just another accidental overdose, sorry for your loss, case closed. You see if a bar/bartender can be held responsible when someone leaves their establishment and a tragedy occurs why are drug dealers not held responsible when they sell or give drugs to someone and they die of an overdose? Markie laid on a bedroom floor unresponsive for 14 hours with people around her. No one called 911, no one took her to the hospital until she died, then they carried her to the car and took her to the ER where she was pronounced dead. 14 hours, all of that time wasted, she might have lived if they just made one phone call. Markie couldnt call 911 or even ask for help. They denied her the chance to fight for her life. People have to held accountable for their actions or in Markies case lack of actions. We have to make people see every life is precious. This happens all the time, in all of our states, and because the person used drugs charges are not filed. We need to change this because every life IS precious. We want justice for Markie, and for others whos lives were cut short because of other peoples lack of caring, compassion and responsibility. If you could save someones life just by making one call, no matter their standing in life, what they did or did not do, would you? If you would want someone to make one call to save your life, help us...it will be greatly appreciated by all of Markies family.
