Marion Council - Stop The Record Rates
ENUFF-IS-ENUFF
Too many people are struggling to pay Marion Council's record rates. Yet the Council states it " has ambitious future plans and this needs to be considered when setting the rate".
Residents are forced to tighten their belts - not Marion Council.
There are over 35 Council credit cards - with a recent KPMG audit identifying risky transactions.
And then we have their white elephant projects - millions wasted in pet projects. New car park on Cove Road when the old one is fine, new park at Kingston when the present one is great, lets build a swimming pool at Hallet Cove when the Marion pool is losing $1m p.a.
Then when more $$ is needed, the Council sends out the traffic wardens.
This petition seeks RESIDENTS' RIGHT TO APPROVE OR REJECT the annual rates.
If the petition is supported, Residents will be asked to vote each year on whether to accept or reject the Council's proposed rates. This places democracy and transparency in the hands of the Residents. THIS PETITION WILL GO TO THE MINISTER & COUNCIL.
Please include your address in your response to prove you are a resident of Marion Council and forward to your friends / Facebook etc.
Thank you and lets see if any of the Mayoral candidates will support Residents who cannot afford the bureaucracy.
