Hello everyone!!!

My name is Mariah Ishak and I am running for Class Representative for 1L’s! I have been on this journey to start law school for quite some time and I am thrilled to finally be here and to be spending the next three years getting to know all of you! I attended Wayne State University here in Detroit and graduated with honors, receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science. Upon graduating in 2018, I took the next three years preparing for my role as a student, a peer, and a professional. So needless to say…I am extremely motivated and excited to be a part of this community and to be starting my career, and I would love to spread that energy throughout our student body!! I have always enjoyed listening to people’s concerns and helping them address them in many capacities throughout my life, it is the reason I chose to be a lawyer.

Throughout my prior education and employment I have always thrived when put in a leadership position, whether facilitating meetings, organizing events, or plainly solving a family dispute! LOL. I truly love to help people be heard and feel represented and this role is an amazing first opportunity to allow me to do that in my chosen field. I will do my absolute best to work as a liaison between the student body and other leadership at UDM to ensure this upcoming year is smooth and successful for ALL of us. It would mean so much to me to be put in a position that not only requires me to more involved in our school, but to also allow me to assist other officers in ensuring we each have a productive and organized first year of law school.
