Soldiers on Fort Irwin currently work solid 3-week blocks with no time off. They work through lunches and late nights. This is having a detrimental affect on family units, as spouses are left to maintain families alone. Mothers act as fathers, fathers act as mothers. Children suffer from very little time with their active-duty parent. The schedule is such a heavy burden to carry. Will a single day off a week break the Army? No. Can a single day off a week save a family? Yes. Please sign to ask the command at Fort Irwin and congressional leaders to be compassionate toward the needs of families and require one mandatory family day every week! Military families sacrifice enough. Please sign to make the burden a little less cumbersome. Ask Fort Irwin leaders to create schedules at unit levels that allow for one mandatory family day for each Soldier every week.

I keep staring at the screen because I never expected so many people to relate to this specific struggle. It is overwhelming to see this kind of energy building for something that felt like such a lonely fight in my own living room just yesterday.

A single day off is basic human decency. Get it together.

I served and know how it is. These soldiers need a break or there wont be any families left to come home to.

Total burnout. How are they supposed to lead effectively when they are exhausted and stressed about home life? Fix this.

This is ridiculous. 3 weeks straight with NO time off? These people are humans not robots. Give them their families back.

Living in the desert is already hard enough without being separated from your spouse 24/7. They need a mandatory day off!

My husband is always gone and the kids barely know him anymore. Something has to change.
