Soldiers on Fort Irwin currently work solid 3-week blocks with no time off. They work through lunches and late nights. This is having a detrimental affect on family units, as spouses are left to maintain families alone. Mothers act as fathers, fathers act as mothers. Children suffer from very little time with their active-duty parent. The schedule is such a heavy burden to carry. Will a single day off a week break the Army? No. Can a single day off a week save a family? Yes. Please sign to ask the command at Fort Irwin and congressional leaders to be compassionate toward the needs of families and require one mandatory family day every week! Military families sacrifice enough. Please sign to make the burden a little less cumbersome. Ask Fort Irwin leaders to create schedules at unit levels that allow for one mandatory family day for each Soldier every week.
