A shame and a disgrace that this beautiful building is being so neglected. Is there a hidden agenda here wait till it falls down.

Manchester is modernising but it should not loose its heritage that defined its past. The fire station should become a landmark for the city and the developers in the area should embrace it.

An outstandingly beautiful building which would be replaced with another innocuous pile like the exceptionally ugly Hilton.

We must save this building now - if it was in London I do not think that we would be fighting like this to do something with the building

When I moved to Manchester ten years ago this was the first building I saw when I left the train station. Although it was in a state of neglect I instantly loved it. I assumed such a beautiful in a central location would quickly be redeveloped. After a decade in the city I am sad to see it deteriorate so badly. Something must be done.

This is one of the most beautiful buildings in Manchester, no the UK. The architecture, footprint and location and history make this building truly special. My wife and I stent much of this morning studying the building and wondering why on earth its not in use. I'm really glad someone has started this petition as I would have. If Wikipedia info on the building is correct it appears the Council have tried to do their part but have been blocked by Britannia. It should be criminal to neglect heritage like this. I'll actively avoid Britannia owned hotels from now on until they do the right thing!

This building has great potential and should be saved. There is more to life in Manchester than hotels. Brittainia's dog in a manager attitude just says that they are afraid that someone else could succeed in making it a hotel where they can't. Grade II* listed does not mean that if they wait long enough for it to fall to bits they will be able to demolish it to build something more boring. The council needs to apply more pressure now they have failed to keep their promises. I won't be spending money in any of their hotels.

First place I see every Monday to Friday. Sick of seeing this building like this. Someone in the Council needs to step up and make this building something Manchester wants.

It is so important to save these buildings apart from their magnificent architectural value to me they represent hard toil of working men without the materials, tools, protective clothing and safety measures, men with skills that are dying out give me a beautiful old building that has stood the test of time over any that seem to appear overnight these days.
