We think that the 'Carnival Committee' needs to be adapted so that some young people can join, be involved in the planning & make a change to Manchester Carnival.
Who remembers Manchester Caribbean Carnival back in the days? Those were the days when Manchester Carnival was one of the best! Something we all use to look forward to yearly... Over the years, Manchester Carnival has not been the same which is a shame. Many of us are not happy with the way Manchester Carnival 2013 was organised... Firstly Carnival was moved from Alexandra Park to Plattsfield Park (After all those years!), Secondly, Their was no procession... How on earth can their be a Caribbean Carnival with no procession?! Thirdly, the entertainment was shocking! Their was no entertainment their for the young people! Other than the 3 Musical tents & the so called 'Main stage' that you could barely see or hear, their was very little entertainment! What happened to the youth stage? What happened to the youth tent? I feel that the organisers of Manchester Carnival did not organise & arrange it to cater for all the different age groups, Do you agree? If so, I feel that if we stick together & make our points loud and clear, We can make a change! Please sign this petition... The more signatures we get, the more chance we have of making the change that we all want.

Seeing this community unite over our shared memories of the procession and the park confirms that I am not the only one grieving the loss of our tradition. The energy building behind this movement is proof that the youth are ready to take the lead in bringing the real spirit of Manchester back.

Needs new blood on the committee for sure. Old heads have lost touch with what the youth want.
Plattsfield just isnt the same. Alexandra park was the heart of it.
MISS THE OLD DAYS!!!! Manchester carnival used to be the highlight of the summer. Fix it.
The atmosphere used to be amazing at Alexandra Park. Now it feels like a ghost of what it was. Bring back the parade!
So boring now. My little sister didn't even want to go this year because there was nothing for her to do.
