The Dunning Street location is totally inappropriate for the proposed NYSP barracks. The community has raised its voice loud and clear in opposition for over a year, yet the governor ignores us. The town was not transparent and there was a clear conflict of interest for the supervisor at the time this issue was introduced and the town transferred the parcel to the state. And yet we are snubbed by the only person who can make this right. Governor Hochul, if you stand for the rights of your constituents and government transparency then you must halt this project and meet with us to discuss the better options offered.

Doesn't make sense to put this in a residential area.

The barracks should not be at the entrance to a residential neighborhood., where so many trees would need to me cut down. There are other more suitable spots in the town that could accommodate the NYSP, be more readily accessible, and would not destroy a forested area.

With all available spaces in the Malta area that are commercial why does have to be in a residential area that needs more clearing and development that was supposed to be forest.

I am not a Town Board member, I do not live in Luther Forest, but I do believe a grave injustice has been done to the people who live in Luther Forest, especially those residents that live near the proposed location of the NYS Trooper barracks and must endure decades of noise, light, and disruption to their lives. Another injustice has been done to all the residents of Malta by the refusal of the NYS Police to engage in any dialog with the Town or its residents. This must never happen again in Malta.

6000 sq ft building, 30 car parking lot is BS, this is in a residential area, not in the commercial development area of route 9. Local homes will be inundated with bright lights and vehicles 24/7. There was not any open government on this nor any open space considerations. A precedent was set 12 years ago when the town board refused to put the fire department there for the same reasons. This was ignored. The State Police also refuse to entertain any alternative options which several have been presented. Homeowners bought their homes in Luther Forest to be in a “forest”, now the forest is being taken away.

I am a retired member of the NYSP.
We want the NYSP to remain in Malta, and we know that a new barracks is long overdue. We are asking that the new barracks be built on a high traffic corridor, so that every person who travels through Malta knows that our Town is patrolled and protected by New York State Troopers, while keeping the aesthetics of our town by not unnecessarily cutting down part of Luther Forest.

This barracks contributes nothing to this community. There are many alternative locations closer to Route 9 and I87. Why insist on ruining a tranquil neighborhood?

There are plenty of other sites to build that will not impact on residents or the environment.
As a 35-year long homeowner of Luther Forest, I vehemently oppose to the NYS Trooper Barracks being built here. I have the utmost respect for law enforcement, but they are not welcome here.

Plenty of other locations to put the barracks. This also does not increase our safety since the barracks were already close to Luthers Forest.
