We all love UVU and would love to make our school greater! As you're probably aware, UVU is an open enrollment university that allows anyone to be accepted.
In an effort to bring our education to the next level, let's get rid of open enrollment!
Benefits To UVU Students:
•Will increase the prestige & credibility of our school
•Will raise the level of education
•Will increase school pride
•Will make us a competitor to BYU and The U
•Will significantly boost graduation rates
When you've worked so hard to be accepted to a school, you're going to work even harder to graduate. Please sign this petition to help make UVU a better school for you and for all future generations!
I appreciate your feedback. Thing is, UVU is not a junior college or community college, it is a university. UVU is already seeking to become a major university and this is the next process. Of course, the closed enrollment will drop, but it will bring in higher caliber students, more funding, better education, better job placement, higher credibility, etc. Quality over quantity. The better the school, the more selective the acceptance process. Let me know your thoughts. :)

End the open enrollment. It is ruining our town. The traffic is horrendous and our town can't accommodate it. We don't want it nor the criminal activity that has come with it. Our town is no longer the safe community it used to be. UVU used to be a great university alternative to that blue one down the street for our Utah residents. Now the residents of Orem are resenting the school for what it's turning our city into. We don't need nor want our city to become like a typical California town. We liked it the way it was and what it is now is going to force many of us to leave our city.

I know a policeman very well and I've heard several stories of the quality of people UVU is bringing in especially due to open enrollment. It's only been two weeks since fall has started and these open enrollment students are already causing trouble! It's ruining the reputation of the school and all for what? Money.

(Open enrollment)
This form of "inclusive" admissions[2] is used by many public junior colleges and community colleges[1] and differs from the selective admission policies of most private liberal arts colleges and research universities in the United States, which often take into account standardized test scores as well as other academic and character-related criteria.[2] (source: Wikipedia)
I my opinion UVU should remain to have open enrollment. It is a college to many, as the in-between, prior to attending a major university. I think the enrollment may drop if changed.
However, UVU could change the enrollment process if they feel the number if students coming in is too high for the amount of classes offered.
For now though, UVU should remain the same.
