Many term 3/4 students have already organized themselves into Pathology lab groups of 8 people, however an email from the Pathology Department on Tuesday the 2nd stated that only 7 people will be allowed per group. By signing this petition you are respectfully requesting that the Pathology Department allow group sizes to be between 6-8 people total. Please sign this BY FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 5TH at 1PM. Petition signatures will be submitted to the Pathology Department shortly thereafter.

With so many students already organized into 8-person groups, and little time before the registration deadline of February 15th, this petition aims to prevent students from scrambling to reorganize themselves into new lab groups.

Thank you, and good luck in your studies.

Updates

February 4, 2016

I have been reviewing the feedback provided by students who feel the current group size mandate causes unnecessary disruption to established study cohorts. These concerns have been compiled into a formal document that will be presented to the Pathology Department for their immediate review.

February 4, 2016

The level of engagement this petition has received demonstrates how significant this disruption is for students. This momentum confirms that our request for flexibility is both reasonable and necessary for an orderly registration process.

its really unfair to spring this on us last minute when we have already finalized our groups. trying to find a new group this late is going to be impossible. please just stick with 8.

Although there was no official statement for group size before the email, groups were formed with the knowledge of the previous term being 8 students. After thoughtful considerations and sometimes painstaking searching to find a student to fit each slot, now we're expected to kick out a member. Some groups, like ours, had a difficult time getting that last student, and having to kick them out would put a lot of stress on us all. Just keep it consistent, don't change these limits so much from term to term; and as the department, please be a little more flexible as there are already a number of restrictions, which we've already adhered to. Help out your students!

Hi, due to previous terms many groups have already formed a group of 8. It puts many groups in a bit of a frenzy as we now have to figure out how to remove someone from the group.

Students have been told 8 for the past year and it is unfair to change it. This disrupts what we students worked to set up. It will be very disturbing to the productivity of our class and well being of the students to not consider making the rule 6-8 students.

It makes no sense to penalize those grouos that have organiEd themselves early. Also eben numbered groups at 6 or 8 studemts would better facilitate paired partner activities.

Hello! We have formed a group of 8 already, and if we have to let one of us go that person would be left without a group as all path groups are formed. We were wondering if it could be possible to allow us having groups of 6-8 as it has been for previous terms. We appreciate your help! And sorry for any inconvenience.

6-8 is good. Flexibility is good.
