Final supporters
A number of students have raised their concerns about the online exams being 2 hours compared to last year’s 24-hour exams. This gives quite the disadvantage to students as there are numerous reasons in which students cannot perform at their optimum level. One being some students have travelled back to their home countries and are stuck due to lockdown, due to the time zone difference this may lead to the exam being at an abnormal time. Furthermore, students have different living conditions and the time allocated may not be suitable with various factors involved such as major distractions from home noise levels etc. Additionally, there are many uncontrollable factors that can affect students within the hours given to finish and submit, with a 24-hour exam this can nullify major technical problems and keep students at peace of mind.
For many students it will be there first time sitting a timed exam since the first year of university. This gives an unfair advantage to students who have had many experiences with timed exams. This can be a lot of pressure and effect many students mental health to perform adequately In the exam.

The stories about timezone conflicts and home distractions are everywhere in the comments. I am compiling these accounts to present directly to the department.

Due to the situation of the many covid-19 students are away from the community country and many live in busy family home or hustle which could create lot of distraction and difficult for student to finish the exam under such conditions.
my wifi cuts out constantly and i live in a house with 5 other people. 2 hours is just not enough time to deal with technical glitches and noise.
The time zone diff is brutal. Having to wake up at 3am to take an exam is ridiculous when we already have so much stress from everything else.
this is so unfair. please just give us the 24 hours back like last year.
I live in a very noisy and busy household I find it extremely tough to find at least 2 hours of peace and quite. a 24 hour exam will make this more beneficial for me and I'm sure many others to perform better
6 hours would be fine too

I’m a firm believer of an evolving curriculum. I don’t think short closed book exams are representative of a students ability. Rather timed, open book coursework style assignments allow us to show what we have studied and learned to do best at university especially in a topic such as economics, research based assignments.
