Pocahontas has two major themes:

1) Human connection to the Earth and all it's inhabitants. It is our responsibility to take care of our world.

2) As people, we are all brothers. We must respect and try to understand one another.

These themes are imperative for our younger generations and are extremely relative to our world today. We are living in a time where our Earth is dying. Pollution, toxic water, over-hunting, and deforestation are diminishing our natural resources at a rapid pace. A live-action movie of Pocahontas will bring a perspective of conservation into the light.

Our world has been torn apart by the intolerance of differing political views, skin color, sexual orientation, etc. Pocahontas takes a stand and unites her people and the explorers when she sacrifices her own life for John. This self-sacrificing love and bravery to stand up for what you believe in is something that would leave an impact on our harsh world. We need Pocahontas' reminder now more than ever that all of us are the same on the inside.

I am writing this petition because Pocahontas is one of the only Disney movies that is not going to be made into a live-action movie because it is historically innaccurate and some believe it is racist. A live-action movie would be a beautiful opportunity for Disney to tweak the story if they wish, while still maintaining the prized themes that are unique to Pocahontas.
