We, the past, current and future tourists of Mongolia, invite all Mongolian citizens and Mongolian government take responsibility to make their beautiful country clean again.
Mongolia has been taking much pride in its pristine untouched land, water, fresh air and sunny days with Eternal Blue sky. However, when we dream about visiting you all our lives and spend thousands of dollars and finally arrive, we are greeted with littered grassland, streets and polluted rivers and mountains, full of vodka bottles, cigarette butts, soiled diapers, plastic bottles and aluminum cans. This IS NOT THE MONGOLIA we imagined and hoped for!
LITTERING IN MONGOLIA HAS TO STOP! We love your country, honor your heritage and often come to you to escape from hectic modern cities and to ponder the meaning of life and find ourselves in your beautiful mountains and vast steppes. We come to reconnect with Mother Nature and find peace and adventure. We WANT CLEAN MONGOLIA BACK and want to BRAG TO THE WHOLE WORLD that visiting Mongolia is once in a lifetime opportunity for everyone! We want to brag that MONGOLIA IS AN EXEMPLARY NATION that cherishes their vast land that they inherited from the Chinggis Khaan, which he loved dearly.
Until each and every one of you takes REAL participation and action toward returning Mongolia’s pristine, unlittered beauty, your words about “beautiful” Mongolia is are empty! ACT NOW before it's too late! We know you can do it! You are the children of legendary men and women who have honored the Mother Earth through centuries! Do it for your children! Do it for the tourism industry, which is a potential key industry to the development of the country!

I have spent hours reading through your stories about the broken hearts you felt when seeing trash scattered across the sacred steppes of the country I love. It is deeply painful to witness the land of my ancestors treated this way, but seeing your passion gives me the strength to keep pushing for actual change from the government. I am currently reaching out to local environmental groups to see how we can turn this online momentum into real cleanup efforts on the ground.

Seeing this momentum unfold reminds me of the first time I stood on the steppe and realized how much we have already lost. Your commitment to restoring the land I love provides a sense of hope that I have been searching for since the day I started this.

I have visited Mongolia twice, what a change when I came back... I was really disappointed. You must protect your land. Not for the tourists, but for yourself and the next generations.
I visited Mongolia in 2014 and 2015 and really loved it. It is the most beautiful country I've ever seen, but in some places I saw heeps of rubbish or just thrown away bottles and other things, which made me rather sad, because it doesn't fit there - even less than anywhere else.
Truckloads of building material waste are just dumped along the road outside of UB. Official garbage dumps are left open for the wind to blow it far and wide. Corruption needs to be tackled, laws implemented and the mentality needs a fundamental change!
Please keep anti-litering education going. The locals need to become invested in their tourism economy and realize their bad behavior only encourages same bad behavior of visitors and tourists with weak values and self-discipline.

Living in UB for last 9 months, I've seen many youth and children litter. Awareness campaigns, somehow, must reach those group too.
