As a cyclist I find this road particularly dangerous. Cars travel at high speeds and there is a lot of large, slower traffic too. Cyclists and pedestrians are very vulnerable

Reducing and enforcing the speed limit would be most effective. Reactive digital signage is known to work well in other places locally. Not convinced about the proposal to cut away the verges - wouldn't that make things harder for walkers, make drainage more challenging, impact on wildlife and even encourage motorists to go faster still?

Having driven on this road it is obviously in need of preventative work to reduce flooding and danger to road-users.

Flooding on the Glencaple Road is now a regular problem even after a short spell of rain. Oncoming traffic driving more and more towards centre of road to avoid lying water.

A few years ago, one dark December evening, I was hit by a car coming towards me at the narrow bit near Netherwood Cottages. It resulted in my wing mirror being smashed and this hit the glass in the drivers door, which shattered and fell all over me. Very dangerous, frightening and startling as I was driving. Needless to say the other driver did not stop and I was left with a hefty bill to pay: £75 excess on replacement glass and £200 (under my excess) on replacement wing mirror. With increasing age - now 70 - , I do not like driving in the dark and with the almost non existant bus service we have (6A) , I not infrequently walk home from Dumfries (wearing a high viz jacket) if I have attended an evening event. There is no pavement and climbing onto the grass verges when cars are coming can be very difficult. The alternative is to become increasing isolated and housebound.. Please work to make this road safer for ALL road users and reduce the speed limit to MAXIMUM 40 mph. Thank you.

My son and his girlfriend were involved in an RTA last year due to flooding on the road and an idiotic driver swerving to miss the flood and speeding. It could of been so much worse but car a write off and my son still has ongoing issues with his ankle damaged in the accident! It's such a dangerous road something needs to be done!

Cars are far to fast on this road for a national cycle route, very wary taking my kids on it and I live I Kelton so don't have any option, any reduction would be a bonus and the drainage is a major issue in winter.

I visit family regularly using this road and have had several near misses from cars swerving to avoid hazards or driving far too fast, especially at Kelton.

Totally unsafe area when travelling between Glencaple and Dumfries, as a cyclist on that stretch I have been very narrowly missed by cars going a full 60mph as they turn the blind corner. Am lucky still to be here to sign this after one particular person on their mobile phone swerved after just spotting me in time.

Many parts of this loop have very poor surfaces - large holes, uneven patched areas and generally in a very poor state for not just bikes but cars too
