I would love to have taken a walk from our holiday cottage off the Glencaple Rd.to Kelton Bank when we visited but dared not as the traffic was whizzing along and I wanted to survive.

I am a keen cyclist and as the Chairperson of Georgetown Community Council tried to get funding via the council to have a cycle route to the town centre. We have the worst roads in Scotland, which is a disgrace and should be addressed. I have also been asked to stand as an independent councillor for the Nith Ward, which is in your area and you will have my full support. I am also pushing for a Southern bypass and hope that lower speed limits will be set going off that. I would still pursue the 40 mile an hour speed limit due to the width of the road. All the best with your petition and hopefully a new set of councillors would champion your cause.

This road is extremely dangerous for all involved, it's better to be proactive rather than reactive with planning and safety.

Having lived all my life in the area I feel over the last few years that this road has got more hazardous.
The road verge has been damaged in many areas, reducing the road width.
2 cars can hardly pass each other now.
Large tractors regularly run along the verge and result in pushing the verge onto the highway.Block culverts and damage work carried out by Roads Dept.
I also feel locals using the road could drive more slowly along the Kelton Bank, Kelton stretch

That is probably the most beautiful bike route near Dumfries, but safety is an issue.

My son and his girlfriend had a nasty accident due to flooding on the b725 Glencaple road, as this didn't drain away the person coming in the opposite direction hit them head on, they were both injured and I guess it could of been worse but the next person may not be so lucky it could fatal

As a frequent cyclist along this route I am in compete favour of a lower speed limit. I see lots of folk out walking and on horses along this route who would also certainly benefit.

It's only a matter of time until a real nasty accident occurs.
Dangerous road, should be no more than 40 mph
