This is a petition to keep our Neonatologist, Dr. Zieba, on staff in the NICU. Dr. Z really needs our support, both in friendship and professionally. It has very recently come to light that he will no longer be covering neonatology at NMC within the near future, which will be a tragic loss for the unit, the NICU families, and for us. From the moment Dr. Zieba took over, he has seen the potential for us to grow into a larger, higher acuity unit. (He even labeled his office door "Future Level IV Office"). Dr. Zieba practices with enthusiasm and dedication. He listens to family members concerns and invites them to be active participants in their baby's care. He listens to nurses and takes our concerns with high regard, giving us a voice in our unit practice. This has been a very stressful year for the women's center - the NICU in particular- and Dr. Zieba has championed behind us the whole way, standing up for us in every way he knew how and offering support and encouragement to keep our heads high and attitudes positive. Now it is our turn to stand up for him and fight to keep him on as part of our team. Dr. Zieba has been more than a coworker to many of us. He has been a friend. He asks about our families, Our vacations, our opinions. He encourages personal and professional growth. Dr. Zieba sees something special in us, he has a huge plan for this NICU and wants to grow with us. It would be devastating to see him go.
