We, the residents of Livingston, have concerns regarding how the scale of the Madonna Sports Complex, currently under construction, will be affecting residents' lives . We were led to believe that the field was to be a standard recreational soccer field, similar to most others in Livingston. In actuality, the field is being built to a much grander scale. The Madonna project has plans for a multi-sport (football, soccer, lacrosse) synthetic turf field with bleachers, four large 70ft light towers and a 32 ft scoreboard. Games and practices could be held under the lights until 10-11pm at night. The construction of this field will impact the ability of nearby families to enjoy peace and quiet in their homes and backyards during the days and well past many of their children's bed times. There are no other fields in Livingston equipped with light towers that are in such close proximity to residences. We are not against the new field. We are however against the construction of lights, a scoreboard with audio capabilities and late evening use. Residents' ability to have quiet down time in the privacy of their own property is something that they have a right to. That right is being compromised. The town has graciously promised to replant evergreen trees to create a buffer between their properties and the field. They have also agreed to construct fences to deter the threat of trespassers. We appreciate these gestures greatly. We urge the council to take the next reasonable step to aid in protecting what will be left of their decreased quality of life and property values. Please remove the unnecessary lights and scoreboard/audio components from the Madonna Sports Complex plans.
Thank you!
As the speaker system is right now I can clearly hear whenever there is a football game or any other kind of event that uses said speakers at the school. I have had to close windows if the weather happens to be nice and a game starts because it is just too loud and have had games wake me up before. The last thing we need is an even better sound system and 70 ft tall powerful lights when there are so many home owners in close proximity who would be negatively impacted.
