Memorandum

This memorandum addresses the critical issue of the rising number of accidents on the M7 highway in Queensburgh. The high frequency of accidents, averaging one every other day, is primarily due to increased truck traffic and traffic law violations by some drivers. The memorandum proposes several actions to mitigate this issue, including:

Increasing law enforcement presence on the M7.

Launching public awareness campaigns on safe driving.

Conducting infrastructure assessments to identify necessary upgrades.

Enforcing weight limits for trucks.

Organizing community engagement meetings to discuss safety concerns and solutions.

This memorandum is directed to Colonel Siya Dlamini at Metro Queensburgh for further action.

Call for Public Participation

We invite all concerned community members, local businesses, and transport companies to support and participate in addressing the safety concerns on the M7 highway. Your involvement is crucial in fostering a safer environment for everyone in Queensburgh. Please share your names and contact details to join this collaborative effort.

Cllr Jay Singh

(United Independent Movement)

Please note that we do not request donations.

M7 traffic with trucks is hectic. Crash barriers need to,be installed at the center from bottom of M7 all the way to Pinetown. More law enforcement required especially at the stop and go. Grass cutting required . Visibility bad especially around the bends.

It’s a death trap something needs to be done. Metro Police and RTI needs to enforce the law, trucks travel at high speed, I have lost a vehicle before on the M7 due to trucks speeding. Also the road itself is in a bad condition, drainage poor, verges not cut, potholes

It's well overdue and time to do something about this. Trucks do not stop at the required stop at the top of the hill due to no police presence. Many officers are walking about in Malvern issuing fines for petty issues while people lives are in danger daily

I agree, some of the trucks take short cut, turn off at top of M7West, rught into Bellville bridge and travel along Main Road, rejoin M7 in escome, why I don't know. A truck collided into my car in Main Road Malvern, also one of those trucks taking short cut.

I have written to government officials, newspapers etc for years regarding this issue and nobody takes any notice. Queensburgh ranks very low on all their radars because we are a working/middle class suburb and not wealthy.

The M7 has become a death trap. Fear for safety as the heavy duty trucks drivers are not skilled or possess the knowledge of driving on this road. I have seen trucks drive over 80km downhill with steaming brakes and the smell is clutch and brakes. There has been so many accidents and fatalities on this road yet nothing has been done by government. We need this to stop. Public safety is being threatened by these trucks and the unskilled drivers.

Pls make M7 safe for residents and commission trucks to use the N2 freeway.
