Lancashire County Council has confirmed they will implement new, continuous road markings at the junction to resolve the lane confusion. The local highways department is scheduling these works to begin shortly. I will monitor the site to ensure the final layout addresses our safety concerns.

RE-MARK ROAD DIVISIONS AT JUNCTION 7 - M65
This is a petition to Hyndburn Borough Council and Lancashire County Concil to seriously consider re-marking the Road Divisions at M65 Junction 7, Accrington.
Drivers, including police patrol vehicles, have on multiple occasions switched lanes unexpectedly, putting myself and other drivers at risk of serious injury. This is happening to myself on almost a daily basis, I use this roundabout twice per day in peak times taking my children to school, I have lost count of the amount of times that vehicles have jumped lanes with no indication and nearly caused a serious accident.
This roundabout needs immediate attention and road markings rectifying to clearly indicate the road divisions around the entirety of the roundabout. This will clearly indicate to drivers to stay in their lane.
The only indication at the minute are several 'X' marks spaced apart, which does not clearly show the boundaries.
I am 100% confident that a serious accident is going to happen and is 100% avoidable by marking the divisions correctly.

The volume of support has reached a level where we can now pivot to formal engagement with the local council. I have drafted a request for a site visit with the highways department and will be delivering this petition directly to their office later this week.

We was hit from a driver that was in the Rishton lane and moved right over on us in the middle of the junction so that why I'm signing
Road marking need to be clearer Iv nearly been taken out ever week People do not realise 3rd lane from dunk is the right lane to continue on toast lane to Oswaldtwistle. So many cut in from 2nd lane and look at you like ur stupid Iv even had someone undercut me from motor way turnoff Blackburn then continue into fast lane acci
I’ve had two crashes here, both not my fault and I have dash cam, just mainly bad drivers not paying attention.
Something needs to be done before a serious accident happens and someone perhaps with children in the car gets hurt
It needs doing before there is a serious accident I use this road daily to get to work but have started to go up Dill Hall Lane instead ad it’s safer.
Repeatedly cut up when I’m at this roundabout

Definitely needs clearer road markings for those who switch lanes at last minute, then hurl abuse at you - when they are in the wrong lane!
