UPDATE(7/27/2013):Today I have just read in the Sun-Gazette that our petition has made it in the news. This is GREAT for us, because it is now out there, and aware to a lot more people that may need the help, and it puts the Housing Authority on the spot. Mike Reuther did an excellent job on the article hitting key points in what I was telling him a few days before over the phone. It isn't a victory, and it isn't justice yet, but it's damn sure close.
THE HOUSING AUTHORITY RECENTLY APPROVED A $29,900 CONTRACT TO SPENCER MECHANICAL! THIS IS UNCALLED FOR, AND THIS MONEY SHOULD BE SENT SO PEOPLE HAVE HOMES! NOT FOR RENOVATIONS!
Please, everybody keep this petition going, the target has been lowered to 500, and I believe at least now, that it is very doable!
Now they have closed the waiting list for public housing, leaving many of us with zero options, soon if things don't change, a lot of us could end up homeless, or living with family in cramped houses that don't have enough rooms, then all it takes is a phone call to child services to lose your children, all because minimum wage and outrageous rent isn't cutting it. Not to mention that even the best of people will start to commit non-violent crimes to support our families because there is no more options.
Help get this waiting list REOPENED, and stop our city from dumping money into LOW PRIORITY issues that the middle and wealthy class want fixed! Have them start helping US out for a change!
It wouldn't be an issue if small business owners and franchise owners alike started paying livable wages. This is just an idea, and it may require a cut in taxes for them, but if they would increase wages, and get there taxes lowered, ONLY for that reason and agreeing to that, well I don't see what it would hurt, and it would make everyone in town a lot happier, and able to live on their own!

EDIT: I'm glad to see this petition taking off, you guys are really voicing your thoughts, and your lifestyles to the actual life that most of Williamsport has, and has to deal with. A lot of people are thinking about moving out of Williamsport, I know I am one of them. Let's try to all stay where we grew up, please keep up to date with this list, and some day soon, when we reach the 1,000 signature limit, and if there is no word back from the Mayor or Government, we will go outside of the courthouse and petition!
There will be change, because WE THE PEOPLE DEMAND IT. THE WORKING CLASS WHO GETS NOTHING IN RETURN, NOT EVEN A DECENT PLACE TO LIVE IN!
