The PTA was not a part of the selection committee.

I signed the petition and I am in full support of it. Does anybody know if Garden Ridge PTA was part of the selection process? According to the superintendent the selection committee voted unanimously for the candidate selected. Is this true? The question arises because the superintendent is pretty much asking the parents to accept the district decision. I fear this is causing an uncomfortable situation for Mr. Acosta.

I am very disappointed to hear that he is leaving this school because of this decision. We are new to the community and up until the announcement was made that the principal was leaving, I thought that he WAS the principal. I would hate to see the joy and love that he brings to this school go away.

Mr.Acosta is a huge part of my elementry school experience and my classmates in middle school today think the same. Personaly my little sister was very very upset. Mr.Acosta is a huge part of garden ridge and nobody could ever take his place even mrs.Roden. Mr.Acosta deserves this position as head principal more than anyone else, pleas give it to him, thankyou.

Mr. Acosta is a man who exemplifies leadership, compassion, commitment and talent. As a nine-year GRE parent of two, I can personally attest to his skill as an administrator and educator. Whether it was behind closed doors, during lunch, at off-campus events or with a quick handshake before school, he was the face of LISD and GRE for my family.
The man has served his community, his students, their parents and the district with humble grace, reassuring confidence and genuine care—traits rarely seen in today's world yet obviously not fully appreciated by the district or selection committee. This decision proves it.

Mr Acosta should be leading GRE and how he was overlooked is beyond the realm of sane thought.

Mr. Acosta has done an amazing job at Garden Ridge and deserves to be the next Principal. We have been at Garden Ridge for 15 years with four kids attending. Mr. Acosta has always shown a sincere interest in our children. Every morning and afternoon Mr. Acosta has been there with a smile on his face looking out for our children. LISD should reconsider their decision and make Mr. Acosta our principal.

I was appalled as a GRE parent to learn that Mr. Acosta did not get the promotion he so much deserves. Since my family relocated to the area, Mr. Acosta has been the face of Garden Ridge Elementary. EVERY morning and afternoon when I pick up my daughter Mr. Acosta is ALWAYS present. He has a true deep devotion to each child and this school. The level of sincerity he shows whether it's greeting the parents and children or saying good-bye at the end of the day just proves how much his heart is in this school. As a member of the GRE PTA, we work very closely with the Principal and Administration to make sure things run smoothly for our children and teachers. Mr. Acosta has been at every school function, whether during the day, at night, or on the weekends. If this doesn't tell you how much he cares for the children of his school, I don't know what would. I would only hope that the LISD Administration would take into strong consideration the insight and feelings of the parents whose children are at or have been at this school. Our children and teachers are the ones that matter, and Mr. Acosta has always gone above and beyond to care for everyone at GRE. Make Mr. Acosta Principal at Garden Ridge Elementary.

I join with our Gator community in supporting Mr. Acosta as the next principal for GRE. The decision to pass him over was made by people that aren't in the school everyday, as I am. Continuity where performance has been exceptional is warranted.

There is absolutely no doubt that Luis Acosta should be the next Principal of Garden Ridge Elementary. Had I known that it was even in question, I would have been proactive at voicing my opinion. We had two children at Garden Ridge for almost 10 consecutive years and our experience with Luis was nothing but world class. He is not only a fantastic educator, but he is a wonderful person who is loved, respected and appreciated by the students, parents and teachers. LISD has no reason to be guessing as to whether someone new may be the right person for this job. Luis is a proven resource who has already demonstrated, over a long period of time, that he is the right person for the job. I'm not sure of the decision making process, but a mistake was made. If LISD is truly about what is best for the kids and for our community, the decision makers in this situation will immediately acknowledge their mistake and name Luis as Principal. The Grant Family wholeheartedly supports, and stands by, Luis Acosta!!

Mr. Acosta is the best choice for the students and the teachers. He knows all the kids and the parents and teachers like and trust him. Which means that is what is best for Garden Ridge and LISD.

No doubt Mr. Acosta is the right name for GRE principal spot. He has been with the school for years and knows what our students need.

Mr. Acosta is well qualified for the position of principal in whatever setting he is placed in. In our 6 year history with him as assistant principal, he was attentive to children/parents concerns and encouraged excellence with care and understanding.
He is the best!
