Motorcycles should definitely pay at least half of highway tolls as they do not take up space and are not causes of traffic jams.

Motorcycles have less impact on traffic, not to mention wear/tear on roadways. Toll roads are most often associated with traffic reduction, so it seems only appropriate to charge motorcycles as a smaller class of vehicle than automobiles.

I agree that motorcyclists pay disproportionately in tolls and fees. Motorcycles and scooters can be a sensible part of the transportation mix and help alleviate congestion. If they are treated with respect and given some fair incentives, then more responsible people will choose to use them for daily transportation (as many of us already do). Labeling motorcyclists as "wildmen" only shows a willingness to give in to closed-minded generalizations. Read up on confirmation bias. Sign me up in favor of this proposal!

As an avid rider, I think this would inspire more motorcyclist to utilize the tolls. So instead of getting $100 from one pocket, you'd get $50 from 20 pockets. In the long run too, while generating more revenue, would spend less on repair work.

This petition seems fair. Many other states and countries charge less for motorcycles on toll roads.

Don't label me as a wild man either. I'm 62 and have been riding since the age of 15.

Please do not label every motorcycle rider in this County as "motorcycle wild men" just because a few choose to disregard rules. I am a native 56 year old Houstonian, and have been a rider since I was 14. I like MOST riders try very hard to be a conscientious responsible driver. Never once have I received any traffic citations while on my bike, nor have I ever been involved in any accidents. There are serious and damaging crimes committed every day all over this Country by automobile drivers. Yet I don't hear you referring to that segment of the driving public as "crazed automobile drivers who cause other headaches and types of damages". Further, the hypocritical argument recently used to defend the current toll rate was that "it isn't all about wear and tear on the roadways, we are also selling a transport service". That is still another very good reason why motorcycles should pay less, they cannot carry nearly as many passengers as the average automobile. Therefore motorcyclists do not receive the same potential transport value. You are obviously very much biased against motorcycles. Your recent words and decision at a public hearing on this subject, and the continued unjustified tollway usage rates very clearly reflect this. We, the motorcycle riders of Harris County will continue to illuminate this unjust labeling, and rate discrepancy. We will continue to pursue this with our elected officials, and expect a change in the insulting demeanor of the HCTRA board, and this discriminating rate policy.
