Forest Park is a residential neighborhood in the Town of Red Hook, NY made up of single family homes mostly situated on less than 1 acre lots.

Most roads in the subdivision are significantly less than one mile long and several are dead ends. There is no outlet -- one way in and one way out.

There are many new families with small children who enjoy walking to their friends homes, riding their bicycles, skateboards, scooters, etc., people who take daily walks - including senior citizens - and many who walk their pets more than once a day.

Recently, neighbors have reported many incidents of vehicles traveling in excess of 35 mph. This is a serious safety concern for our neighborhood.

A few years ago the Town of Red Hook installed signs that increased the speed limit to 35 MPH. We were told that the 25 MPH signs were installed by the developer (maybe in the 1960's?) and that they were not the legal speed limit for the Town. We appealed this and asked the Town Board to reverse this change and seek a way to decrease the speed back down to 25 mph. To date this has not been resolved to our satisfaction.

We therefore ask, once again, that the Town Board take steps to remedy this and complete the necessary steps to have the speed limit changed back to 25 mph.

with the many blind corners in this development speeding has become a constant dangerous issue we face the speed limit needs to be seriously reconsidered

On Kalina Drive people are really hitting the gas as they speed towards the light. There are several young children right in this area.

Our kids play here. The speed limit is lower by 10 mph at Bard where the population is adults. Thank you.

Please lower the speed limit back to 25 mph. Then maybe people will slow down to 35! It's incredible how fast people drive in this neighborhood even with people walking in streets.

This is necessary, people are in a rush and forget how much hitting a pedestrian would upend their lives.

Please lower the speed limit. 35 mph is way too high for any area of Forest Park. The roads are too short and too narrow to support a speed of that kind. It's not safe. There are too many young children in this park.

Same comment on the previous petition…..without stop signs at 7 of the 9 intersections in the sub-division it doesn’t matter what speed is posted. Rolling through an intersection at 25 mph which is also the location for a bus stop filled with kids is bad. I will sign the petition once stop signs are located at every appropriate spot necessary to encourage safe driving practices at any speed.

It’s not safe for children to play or people to walk their dogs. This is a tightly packed housing development & the speed limit needs to reflect that.
