The school governors at St Augustine's Catholic primary school in Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire decided to cancel a VERY important extra-curricular educational programme – Love Literacy, the only one of its kind run within the school’s facilities.

What ‘Love Literacy’ provided for our children:

This extra curricular class provided many children with not only better reading and writing skills, but also help built their confidence by way of drama, art, performance and much more. The parents and children who were at the ‘Love Literacy’ concert at the University of Hertfordshire last year (2015), will agree with me that it was one of the best school performances of the year. This concert was written and directed by the children under close supervision of the ‘Love Literacy’ teachers. It was a joy to see how they grew under the guidance and competence of this very important educational programme.

Why was 'Love Literacy' cancelled:

Us as parents received a notice of cancellation letter with no explanation to the reason of the cancellation of the said programme. I asked Mrs Francis and was informed that the school governors wanted to ask rent from this non-profitable charity organization, who provided our children with a much-needed educational programme and was mostly funded by an external source - the University of Hertfordshire.

Petition:

I would therefore like to petition against the cancellation of the ‘Love literacy’ class for the school’s financial gain. This is the ONLY extra-curricular education class OUR kids are provided with, within OUR school’s facilities. This is the class where OUR kids can further grow and build their confidence. This is the class that can help OUR school to produce a better Offsted report.

Please save our kids’ ‘Love Literacy’ class by supporting this petition.
