This is to protect every family that loses a child /baby at home to any circumstances, that the press can not release a story on line or even be given the family name until the investigation has taken place and proof of foul play . My grandson Louie Anthony Eastall past of unexplained infant death syndrome on 10/04/2017 and the next morning the press realised a head line and local radio stations ,stating a child had died in unexplained circumstances and was being investigated by sexual offences exploitation and child abuse teams . My daughter because she was a young mum was put out in press as if she had harmed her son . We need this law to protect the next family who lose a child and have to then suffer at hands of press looking for a story . Nothing can be done to help my family and what we had to endure in the first week of Louie passing , from people spitting at her in street to being left with no guidence from police or social services . The law will prevent the press being given access to any names or even told about the investigation until foul play is found . I can’t thank any of u enough for your support in this !!! You helped us get to 10,000 let’s get the 100,000 and make this happen I believe in all of u and can’t say thank u enough from my family

No parent should have to bury a child - and to have to contend with sensationalist and untrue headlines during such an emotional time as well, it’s disgusting. Fully support this law, and keeping everything crossed it makes it to Parliament.
I believe strongly in this petition. I do not have a child of my own but have had friends who have lost their babies to cot death. It is an excruciatingly painful and sad period and I believe that protection is needed until there is proof of foul play.
Cases need to be judged by qualified professionals who know what they’re talking about before they’re laid in front of the public eye. Mud sticks, people are judgemental. These families should be protected as they’re innocent until proven guilty.
The laws in this country need to be changed! If this was a sex offender you would have done anything and anything to keep their identity out of the press but to let this poor mother go through what she has gone through is a disgrace and a failure as a country!
If a parent harms a child intentionally then I agree their name should be shared to relevant authorities. But you must make sure that you KNOW this as fact. I don’t think the press should be informed of any child dying. What public interest is there in this?

All unexplained deaths are investigated. That is not the issue. With personal experience of SIDS I know first hand how alarming the presence of the police can be - but reporting such as this is totally unnecessary and simply salacious.
