The Most Reverend,

Jose Gomez

Archbishop of Los Angeles

3424 Wilshire Blvd.

Los Angeles, CA 90010

Your Excellency,

As you are aware, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors and many of the LA Unified School Districts as well as several other districts around the state of California are voting to require COVID-19 vaccinations in order for students to attend in-person school. The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) has publicly acknowledged that they are considering a state-wide mandate for those students who qualify.

The LA Diocese has to date complied with the CDPH mask mandate on students in Catholic schools and has publicly taken the position that is required to do so because it is a public health mandate. The LA Diocese has thus far chosen to deny medical mask exemptions for all children.

As parents of Catholic School students in Los Angeles County, we would like to invite you to a public discussion about vaccine mandates from the CDPH or other authorities and give you the opportunity to explain how the LA Diocese plans to respond to these mandates, once they are put into place. The COVID-19 pandemic and the response from our schools impacts the safety and health of our children, and we believe it deserves an open dialogue with you and the Diocese to understand how you plan to protect our children. Public school parents have been given the opportunity to voice their opinions to their various school boards; we deserve the same consideration.

This petition is signed by parents from LA Diocese schools and should serve at the very least as a list of families who would be willing to leave our wonderful schools & parishes should vaccine mandates be followed with no allowed exemption (religious, personal belief or medical).

Now is the time for the Catholic Church to put children first and fight for what is just. We pray daily that you will make the right choice.

Signed,

Concerned Los Angeles County Catholic School Parents

Seeing all these signatures pop up alongside such personal notes really makes me feel like I am not just shouting into a void anymore. It is honestly overwhelming to see so many families who are worried about the same things I am worried about and it makes me think we might actually get that meeting with the Archbishop if we just keep this energy moving forward.

God gave this responsibility to parents. Not bureaucratic politicians. Stand your ground. If a believer you’ll be held accountable. (If not, you might still . . .)

100% do not agree with the mandates. My kids my choice ! Why would I give my kids a vaccine when it’s causing heart conditions and kids are not being affected by COVID. Those who want it can get the vaccine. The school systems will be putting a lot of people without jobs if this goes through because teachers will not be needed when there will not be enough kids to teach in a classroom setting.

Parents need to be able to make these choices for their children not the church.

Per California current law, 10 vaccines are required and additional vaccines can be added if deemed necessary. However per that same law parents are allowed to have exemptions to the new vaccine for medical, religious, and personal beliefs. This law should not be violated. We will leave.

Although we have vaccinated ourselves, we respect the rights of parents to choose. Although this vaccination has been approved by the FDA, the long term effects (if there are any) have yet to be determined. Let parents choose.

CDC shows kids are at .0007% risk of dying from covid (464 children so far), yet their numbers show 1000 have already presented with myocarditis (heart inflammation). This shot has more risk then reward for children — and the UK and other nations see that and are NOT giving the shot to healthy children under 16. Please don’t let politics injure our children! Thank you, -Stacey

It is time for the Catholic Church to stand up to unnecessary mandates. Where were you when I needed you most?

Stop the insanity. Let our children be children. No “shots”. No masks.
