The playground equipment at the Loop playground in Watchung Reservation needs to be renovated. The wooden equipment is over 15 years old and some parts are no longer in operating condition. The Loop playground used to be the nicest playground in Union county and the children are ready for new equipment. We also need to make the equipment much more accessible to children with handicaps and other special needs. There is currently a playground named "Common Ground" in Lakeland, FL, that gave me the inspiration to coordinate a similar project in our area. Common Ground Inclusive Playground is a play experience designed for children of varying abilities to play side by side. The park is full of fun play elements for children aged 2-12. Play zones such as Adventure Canyon, Spider Web Peak, Butterfly Meadow, Fossil Beach, Gopher Mountain, Journey Plateau and Sculpture Gulch provide easy, intermediate and challenging play opportunities. Also, children's music plays throughout the park.
