I just received word that Mr. Menendez is moving forward with bringing lockers back to school for us. I honestly never imagined this would happen so quickly. This result belongs entirely to all of you who stepped up to show why these are needed.

- For those who are not aware, our new principal, Mr. Menendez, does not want to use lockers as we are a New Tech school and lockers may appear to be a safety concern. However, he wants our voices to be heard, and is open to changing his mind! Lockers are very valuable as they are used to store books, school supplies, and for many students their sports equipment. Sign this petition for the use of lockers for the 2019-2020 school year. Please do not leave disgusting comments towards the principal. The comment section is to say why lockers are necessary.

I am honestly stunned by how many of you have stopped to sign this and share your stories about why we need lockers. If we can reach that one hundred mark today it would show the administration just how much this really matters to our school community.

I understand why the new principal would not want our school to have lockers but there are kids who need to walk home and walk to school. If there teachers tell them to bring books it will hurt there backs and cause damage over the years.
lockers are necessary to store books. Most of us can’t hold them all, and it’s hard to tell which books we need because most of the times the teachers don’t give us any warning as to if we will need them soon or not. With them in our lockers we could simply just go get the book that is needed in said class.
I believe having lockers is super necessary, given that we are required books in multiple classes that are used in the classroom. I am not going to hurt my back by bringing my books to and from school every day when I could use a Locker to properly store them. I believe our voices should be heard and school lockers are a definite NEED.
I am an alumni of James Lick and have three siblings that attend this school with two of them who participate in sports, reviewing both sides of the argument as many don’t use the lockers there are plenty of reasons as to why they are beneficial including it is still mandatory to have books for certain classes.
We need to keep out books in our lockers and even clothes for Jazz. Some of us don’t have P.E anymore so we need to keep our things somewhere.
We need lockers to store our text books or any valuable items that we don’t want to carry around the campus. We need them to store our items.

How are we suppose to carry heavy textbooks everyday for some classes? If we’re a new tech school & we don’t need lockers then instead of having us take heavy books everyday give us laptops with the books in them. The correlation between saying we’re a new tech school & giving us lockers doesn’t add up to anything it makes no sense ! period
