The new cell phone policy is unnecessary, some aspects of it I understand but some it is just unnecessary. The punishments are too harsh, kids are going to naturally have their phone out and not even realize it, it's part of our generation, it's something we naturally do. If you get caught with your phone out 4 times the rest of the year your phone has to go to the office everyday, that is too harsh of a punishment. Also we can't have headphones on in the hallways, that is some people's escape to get away from the stress of school and taking that away could be really hard for some people. We just want the school to understand how this new cell phone policy will probably not work out.

Updates

Seeing this much traction is exhausting but it proves we were right about how many people feel. I am worn down by the pushback we have received but this momentum gives me the energy to keep moving forward.

I think this is too far, i'm sorry that this is just what we are use to, It's crazy that we can't even walk through the halls with earbuds during PASSING time, like we aren't bothering anyone. We need to be able to relax, music helps. This is silly. Listening to music is a coping skill, it DOES help. Yeah, phones can be distracting a times, the teachers taking them and giving them back after class is PERFECTLY FINE. Compared to this, i'd rather just get my phone back after class. I don't think this is ok, and that's just my opinion

This nee phone policy is dumb if there is an emergency in the class room and we cant get to the school phone what would we do.

I really don't think this is okay, yes I get that they can be a distraction but this has gone too far, some kids have really bad social anxiety and NEED to listen to music in the halls to avoid people or they just need to relax. The school already gives us enough stress. The punishments are ridiculous, what if there's a really bad emergency at home and you can't get to your phone, how are we suppose to get the ergent news?!? With emergencies you can't exactly wait! I'm very opinionated about this, I could keep going but this would be too long, this isn't ok. End of story.

I understand some of why we need this, but no headphones in the hallway? That's going over the top.

absolutely redicoulous… it's our phone not mrs lawson's. if she thinks she can take my phone away she is thinking wrong. i think they forget that students have rights too. our phones are our personal property. how would they feel if we took something important if there's? how would they feel. this is just stupid and it won't happen!
