Live-streaming our city's political meetings is important to provide access to people who can't make it to meetings due to sickness, injury, age, childcare, work schedule, etc. so they may stay on top of discussions that involve them and will have a chance to share their input before topics are voted on during the next council meeting. Live-streaming would also open an avenue straight to our local youth, meeting them on their level, encouraging more involvement in our local politics. Live-streaming is not a replacement for newspaper reports or the government website minutes, but a virtually free and effective tool for providing accessibility to the actions taking place in our local government.

The Waterloo City Council can no longer hide behind closed doors while people are finally demanding total transparency. This momentum proves the residents are sick of being locked out of their own government.

It's just common sense. It makes the meetings far more accessible for only a small cost.
The meetings should be OPEN to all who are concerned. 21st Century tools to govern in the 21st Century. What a concept!

This is a great idea. I'm all for more government transparency and accessibility, and I think this could be a great way to help make sure younger voices are involved in the political process on the local level.
