Little League International made the decision to change the age determination date for kids playing little league baseball and softball. This change, going from April 30 to December 31 has forced kids to play a year of the sport at an age that truly are not at yet. Last year a 7 year old by league rules who has a birthday between June and December, this year would now be a 9 year old. In most cases, the players will play the entire season a true year younger then their actual age.

Kids are considering giving up the sport to play a sport they can play that is more age appropriate such as Lacrosse, soccer or even club baseball, which all have age determination dates of May 31.

Please help us convey to Little League International that the age determination date change has had a negative impact of thousands of young kids and is pushing kids out of the sport.

A player born in May of 2005 and a player born in December of 2006 are now considered the same league age. That is a 20 month difference between the kids but are both considered 9 years old by league age. That is RIDICULOUS!

The growth of this petition shows we have a clear consensus to move toward a formal briefing with Little League International. I am currently finalizing the data points regarding age disparity to present in our scheduled meeting with regional representatives.

Why put another black eye on a sport that is already losing players to more uptempo sports. Kids were already choosing other sports and this gives them another reason to do so.

No reason to change age determination. Does not help any kid, parent, other volunteer.

I believe the change was far to reaching. Kids born in the last few months of 2006 but are still in 2nd grade cannot play little league after fifth grade. This will apply to all kids in the same situation moving forward

I'm assuming this rule was put in place partly for the ease of tracking, ending year end. A poor reason to make a change. It's bad for the kids and baseball.

creative a bad experience for a lot of kids. If you want to make a change you start it with a date that does not take away a year from a kid who loves the game. Very sad.

I am a district safety officer and this age change has made it very unsafe for some kids. This need to go back to the April 30 age like it was before.

Not sure why the age changed in the first place?
