This is a petition for a redress of grievances. The ongoing rebranding effort and product it has produced, as well as the irresponsible spending for which it is now known, does not represent the shared values of the citizens of Abilene.
Therefore, the undersigned citizens of Abilene call upon all city council members of the City of Abilene for an immediate cessation of further taxpayer expenditures in the city rebranding effort, pending an opportunity for substantial public involvement in further decision making toward this effort.
This petition will close at midnight on December 15, 2008.
I am honestly stunned to see how many of you have joined this effort because I never thought it would reach this many people. If everyone reading this manages to get just one neighbor to look at this page today we might actually hit that hundred mark before the council takes notice.

Stop wasting our money on a new logo. We have potholes all over town that need fixing instead. Fix the roads first.

Ridiculous. Nobody asked for this rebranding trash. Keep our tax dollars where they belong.

We should be allowed to vote on how our money is being spent. This is our city not the councils playground.
