Winkids is looking to start a culture of tennis in L.I.S.D area. Tennis is, without doubt, been proven to be good for the mind and body of kids. Playing tennis regularly has many physical and psychological health benefits associated with it. These health benefits are particularly important for a child’s physical, emotional and mental development. However, the opportunity for kids to start tennis in Flower Mound is somewhat limited.

So with the support of our L.I.S.D residents, we are hoping to create a tennis club after school for the kids to participate in tennis on the elementary school campus. All the equipment is portable, balls bounce lower, don't move as fast through the air and are easier to hit. Kids tennis racquet are sized for small hands and courts are smaller and easier to cover and can be used anywhere, from a gym, to outside in the parking lot, or in the cafeteria. All the kids enrolled in the tennis club will learn how to play Quickstart tennis, in a fun upbeat setting, in a 8 or 10 week session (depending on the season). After the session the kids will be eligible to participate in a Flower Mound Tennis Tournament, representing there school, with a team shirt and a team mascot.

With the support of the USTA and Winkids, in order to help our district become more knowledgeable in tennis the L.I.S.D district will be given a set of 36 racquets and 36 balls for FREE for the after school programs and P.E classes to incorporate tennis into the curriculum.

Please sign the petition if you are in support of tennis for our Elementary kids in the L.I.S.D area.

With each signature will be one step closer in giving each L.I.S.D kid an opportunity to be introduce to tennis at a younger age.

I have been busy meeting with school administrators to explain how quickly we can transform a cafeteria or gym into a tennis court. It is encouraging to see how many parents want their children to have this active outlet after the final bell rings.

Watching this level of support grow for our kids shows me how many of you value the same bright, active future for our schools that I do. This energy is exactly what we need to turn the idea of an after-school tennis club into a reality for our students.
