We the undersigned are concerned with the following issues that have arisen with the changeover to the new requirements for the Master of Information LIS concentration:
We are concerned with the lack of equivalencies between the old requirements and the new requirements for the LIS concentration. Part-timers who have already taken courses under the old requirements but who are only able to take one or two classes a semester are especially affected by the changes to the LIS requirements. We want equivalencies offered for the completed courses under the old set of requirements for those who feel it would be beneficial to switch over to the new set of required courses. For those who choose to be grandfathered into the old set of requirements, we want a commitment to offering the old set of requirements in day and evening formats until the time when all part-timers have finally completed them. We are concerned that the lack of evening options in the offering of both new and old course requirements in current draft of the 2017-2018 timetable will continue in the future. While we recognize that not all courses can be offered at all times during all sessions, moving forward we want a commitment that required courses will be offered during both day and evening sessions in order to benefit all students working towards an MI degree.
Equivalencies are the only way for us to switch to the new requirements. Otherwise, I'd like a do-over: money back for the required courses from the old system, and the option to take more courses to complete my degree.
