We request the Alameda County Public Works agency install solar-powered push-button lighted crosswalks at Redwood Road at Lorena and Modesto. With two lanes of travel in either direction, the crossing are hazardous to those crossing the street. Multiple pedestrians have been hit in these crosswalks. Our children from the high school are particularly at risk since they frequently cross Redwood during school hours. This needs to happen before another school year goes by.

I have been reviewing the recent comments and hear the clear concern regarding the safety of our students at these crossings. My focus remains on preparing a formal request for the county officials so they understand the urgency of these infrastructure improvements.

Seeing this collective concern grow reminds me that safety on our streets is a priority we all share. This momentum indicates that the community recognizes the urgency of protecting those who cross Redwood Road every day.

I've been told the official terminology for what we are asking for is Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons, the kind that are at both sides of the road that flash when someone presses a button.
I strongly support this! I have friends in the neighborhood who've seen their children injured by drivers speeding through here. CV needs to implement traffic control devices at this specific intersection.

This is just crazy that these things haven't been put into place already with the amount of kids who walk those streets.

I love on Modesto St, and it is quite dangerous to cross. A signal light would be a great safety measure.
