As a former club member who was involved in putting up new nets in the 1960's I urge the Council to truly represent its residents and keep issues about leases completely separate from refurbishing nets - the two issues are completely separate and one shouls not be used to put pressure on the other - that is very bad practice. The Council should recognise more openly the deed of gift from the Courage family which gave the use of the ground exclusively to the cricket club, so long as they continue to exist.

Shenfield CC was a great experience and the nets needed sorting even when I was there back in the mid 90's. They are dangerous nets. It's very deflating that tax payer money is paid to people who make these unfathomable decisions.
