Don't let the council get away with bullying.

For Brentwood District Council to threaten the benefits that people, young and old, enjoy at Shenfield Cricket Club, by threatening to take legal action and veto the existing planning permission for new nets is a public outrage. How they can live with themselves is beyond me. We should fight tooth and nail to make them see. Imminent sense and decency.

I am Chairman of East Hanningfield and Great Burstead Cricket Club and totally support Shenfield Cricket Clubs endeavours to get their practice facilities. I would express my disgust at Shenfield B.C's shameful and beaurocratic stance in their incomprehensible attitude to restrict this facility.to a professionally operated and historic cricket club.

The welfare of the players should be paramount in any decision the council makes regarding the net replacement.

This club provides not only a social environment for the local community, but has also developed players who have gone on to represent Essex County Cricket Club. The 'bull boy' tactics of the local authority threatens the exsistence of this long established sporting club.

Come on Brentwood BC , you're missing a real opportunity. Head into the 21st Century and think about the real benefit for children you are stopping

Shenfield Cricket Club is considered an integral part of the local community and with a considerable and ever growing contingent of Colts and youths in this club it is essential the club is alao able to move with the times. Adequate facilities are vital to the development of all members and in particular the younger generation. A failure to provide such facilities will be detrimental to the development of the younger generation and I'm sure we all agree this is unacceptable when the solution is within our control. This petition must be supported and council should embrace the initiative for the greater good of the community.

The Council's actions are nonsensical. They are denying a well-run and community based club from improving it's facilities which will benefit all levels of young people and adults.

A club I have played against many times before with varying degrees of success. Either way a club a local council should be keen to assist and promote leave alone and the least make their life more difficult and at worst threaten their very existence. Good Luck Shenfield and I for one really hope you succeed.

Nets are SO vital for any club to encourage the young people of today to turn their backs on anti social behaviour. We at Harlow Town CC have seen youngsters who otherwise would have gone off the rails mature and flourish as part of the cricket club. We MUST support Shenfield and support their future as part of the local community Good Luck Shenfield CC from all at Harlow Town CC

practise nets are invaluable to any cricket club. take them away and you kill the lifeblood of the club.if a club cannot practice and teach skills it ceases to be a club. please approve the renewal of practice nets or just state that you have no interest in a club that has encouraged every criteria of youth involvement and development locally for years including mine and i am 64 next birthday and have the committees permission to have my ashes scattered on the scc ground.

My grandsons are very happy to be part of SCC; which is an extremely well-run club.

We have planning permission for sometime now, our club is in desperate need of functioning nets. Our children cannot progress properly with their cricket, without these essential items. The cricket nets are a basis need of a cricket club, for Brentwood council to refuse the replacement of our nets (even though planning permission has been granted), shows their motives are not in the best interest of the children of Shenfield CC or the Cricket club.

This is a decent, inclusive and friendly cricket club. Both of my sons have benefited from the facilities over the years. Like many others, I've given time and energy to the club and am happy to carry on doing so. We've dug deep into our own pockets to raise the funds, now we need an outbreak of common sense from our friends on the Council. Come on guys - remember why you wanted your posts in the first place (making a difference, doing the right thing, serving the local community etc.) and try to put forget some of the nonsense that you've been forced to consider since.

I would ask the council to reconsider its position for the greater good of the community it serves, and represents.
